Das Erste („the First“) is the flagship national television channel of the ARD association of public-broadcasting corporations in Germany. Das Erste is jointly operated by the nine regional public broadcasting corporations. Two thirds of the German population (ca. 50 Mio) watch Das Erste.

x-dream-media has supplied Das Erste with its WFM workflow orchestrator and implemented an integration and automation layer for VOD publishing. WFM receives high-level commands from the CMS Sophora, controls transcoding via Harmonic WFS, Cambria FTC and lastly, ARD’s self-developed transcoder renders pictures and uploads the files for publishing Akamai’s CDN.

x-dream-distribution has supplied Das Erste with Capella Cambria FTC as a replacement for the outdated Harmonic WFS. The customer team was supported with migration services and training.

The relationship has started in 2015 and is ongoing.
